We have decided to have a clean start. We will be rebasing the ROM to CAF for reliability, speed and not to be dependent on LOS, starting from CygnusOS 2.0.

For those who are unaware, CAF stands for the Code Aurora Forum and it’s where Qualcomm releases the source code for the kernel, public parts of the HALs, and framework branches, for their chipsets, among other things. In comparison, AOSP is directly from Google and will not include the necessary code to boot on Snapdragon chipsets.

On a side note, we’re working on introducing Gerrit, a place for developers to review code in real-time as changes are made, this is another leap forward in signifying this is a community backed project and we couldn’t have done it without you!
